la memoria es distante
solo exhibition, Cromática
Mexico City, Mexico
2021
la memoria es distante presents a body of work of photography, video and sound that created a cyclical narrative of images that moved in and out of the space.
A selection of images was displayed in four wooden boxes designed to be opened and closed to alter the assemblages of photos.
Throughout the exhibition, Maureen spontaneously changed the images in and out of the boxes, experimenting with ways to communicate and connect visual narratives by exchanging, removing and selecting new photos.
The sound design combines audio extracts from the video Riis which was projected during the exhibition as well as recordings from the obscure and reculsive Japanese band Les Rallizes Dénudée.
